On 23 January 2020, the European Union (Withdrawal Agreement) Act 2019-20 obtained royal approval of the European Union (Withdrawal Agreement) Act 2020 (the Act). Amendments made in the House of Lords to the bill were overturned by members of the House of Commons. After the conservative party`s victory in the Uk general election in December 2019, the priority for both the UK and the EU27 with regard to Brexit was the approval, ratification and implementation of the agreement reached in October 2019 at the political level between the European Commission and the UNITED Kingdom on the conditions for the UK`s exit from the EU (Withdrawal Agreement). April 2019, a day when some of the Assembly`s normal by-laws were suspended to prevent government business from taking precedence over operations that other Members might want to make. As such, Sir Oliver Letwin has put forward a motion that would allow MPs to proceed in one day to proceedings on the second, committee and third reading of the act.
